Road Safety Drive Launched in Hussainabad; Action Taken Against Drunk Driving Violators

Lucknow: As part of the National Road Safety Month, the Transport Department conducted an intensive checking drive in the Hussainabad area of Old Lucknow to curb traffic violations and promote road safety awareness. The special campaign was carried out at the historic Rumi Gate, where strict enforcement measures were implemented against motorists violating traffic norms.

During the drive, drivers suspected of consuming alcohol were subjected to breath analyser tests. Several motorists were found driving under the influence, following which challans were issued for violating traffic rules. The enforcement team also made helmet usage mandatory for two-wheeler riders, taking action against those found riding without protective headgear.

In addition, strict action was taken against vehicles found driving in the wrong lane and those overspeeding, as these violations pose serious risks to public safety. The checking drive caused momentary disruption but was largely welcomed by local residents as a necessary step toward safer roads.

Transport Department officer Radheshyam stated that the special enforcement campaign is being conducted under a zero-tolerance policy from January 1 to January 31 as part of the National Road Safety Month. He added that in the coming days, taxis and other commercial vehicles will also be thoroughly checked to ensure compliance with safety norms.

Officials reiterated that such drives would continue across the city to reduce accidents and encourage responsible driving behaviour among motorists.
